    John

This needs to make headline news...not some of the other junk that makes the news these days!!!?

    soldier

It's a tough, but heart-warming story...with a picture of John Gebhardt in  Iraq
John Gebhardt's wife, Mindy, said that this little girl's entire family was executed. The insurgents intended to execute the little girl also, and shot her in the head...but they failed to kill her.. She was cared for in John's hospital and is healing up, but continues to cry and moan. The nurses said John is the only one who seems to calm her down, so John has spent the last four nights holding her while they both slept in that chair.
The girl is coming along with her healing.
This is worth sharing with the WORLD! Go for it!!
You'll never see things like this in the news. Please keep this going. Nothing will happen if you don't, but the public needs to see pictures like this.

    End of a Civil war???

    surrender is not cowardly

surrender is courageous when u sacrifice your goals for the lives

    TX Buddy

The end of Sri Lanka's 25-year civil war has been much predicted in recent months - not least by the government - but it seems the conflict may now finally be drawing to a close. The Sri Lankan army is now in control of the north and it's unlikely that Tamil Tiger leader, Velupillai Prabhakaran could escape at this late juncture. The government of President Mahinda Rajapaksa will want to capture the last vestiges of rebel territory as quickly as possible. But the rebels have proved on innumerable occasions that they have the capacity to strike at targets - often civilian ones - all over Sri Lanka. Around 70,000  cicilians have fled LTTE areas since January.  Now we are afraid for more deaths, and  the continuing  bloodshed, coz this cant stop without more pain. My friend pety wrote this poem abt the fight for a piece of land..

    A call for peace

The grass of the land tainted red
       Endless struggle innocent blood
Cry of sorrow in the wind
       Shattered death their heart sinned

Inch of land a battles cause
pained death a loved ones loss
bullets and bombs weapons to fight
       Bodies burn in pyre bright

       Machine guns in  children's arm
       revenge a fire burning strong
Oh what would make them go
Soon their lives be laid low

Heroes of tis world found in grave
Tears of loved ones remain for the brave
Courage is it for the life to take
A heroes deed a peace to make

I seek thee to lay thy arms down
No more innocent in blood to drown
With death the crown of freedom won
Would joy return to the loved ones gone?

    Father at 13

Baby-faced boy Alfie Patten is father at 13

BOY dad Alfie Patten yesterday admitted he does not know how much nappies cost — but said: “I think it’s a lot..”
Baby-faced Alfie, who is 13 but looks more like eight, became a father four days ago when his girlfriend Chantelle Steadman gave birth to 7lb 3oz Maisie Roxanne.
He told how he and Chantelle, 15, decided against an abortion after discovering she was pregnant.
The shy lad, whose voice has not yet broken, said: “I thought it would be good to have a baby.
“I didn’t think about how we would afford it. I don’t really get pocket money. My dad sometimes gives me £10.”
Alfie, who is just 4ft tall, added: “When my mum found out, I thought I was going to get in trouble. We wanted to have the baby but were worried how people would react.
“I didn’t know what it would be like to be a dad. I will be good, though, and care for it.”
Alfie's story, broken exclusively by The Sun today has sparked a huge political storm with Tory leader David Cameron saying: "When I saw these pictures this morning, I just thought how worrying that in Britain today children are having children.
"I hope that somehow these children grow up into responsible parents but the truth is parenthood is just not something they should be thinking about right now."

    Belgium at his best

    Yesterday
again a very dark day for justice in Belgium. Its unbelievable.
Our Minister of Justice reacted disconcerted. De reactions of incomprehension with the ppl were correct.
15 heavy criminals are free coz of procedural mistakes.
A Convicted gangster walked out of jail as a free bird in Gent, with a big smile.
(There was a big photo in the newspapers)
His friends were waiting for him, ready  to celebrate.
Another 14 criminals are free men again coz of these procedural mistakes, although the court has evidence of their guilt.
3 words in an ambigious law (  2003 ) made this possible.
Now the court wants  those criminals back in jail.
Lol  those guys are not waiting  for the limo.....
They are already out of the country ( Cant blame them)

    When will this stop

The High Priest of the Thirukoneswaram Hindu Temple in Trincomalee, Sivasri Kugarajah Kurukkal was shot down by unidentified gunmen at Vidyalayam Road in the town of Trincomalee yesterday around 6.00 p.m.  The 43 year old priest was riding a motorbike when he was shot. Verwelkte roos

The priest had received two bullets on his head and according to police report he died instantly.

Thirukoanesvaram Temple is located inside the Fort Frederick, where the Trincomalee Government Agent's office and the Gajaba Regiment of the Sri Lanka Army are located.

Sivashri Kugaraja Kurrukal had been the High Priest of one of the oldest Saiva Temple, ThiruKonesvaram for the last five years and according to the Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) he was highly respected by the Hindus as well as other religious communities living in the area. He had been maintaining a very cordial relationship with the law enforcement authorities in the district and had performed a great service in building peace and harmony among the different communities.

As u all know i want to go back to Sri Lanka, but as long as these killings are there my husband dont agree with me.

    Common sense...over feelings....

God bless , Sivasri Kugarajah Kurukkal

    the pic of Kevin CArter

A vulture landed behind the girl. To get the two in focus,

Carter approached the scene very slowly so as not to scare the vulture away and took a photo from approximately 10 metres. He took a few more photos and then the vulture flew off.

what Kevin did after taking this pic?
    Verwelkte roos

On 27 July 1994 Carter drove to the Braamfonteinspruit river, near the Field and Study Centre, an area he used to play at as a child, and took his own life by taping one end of a hose to his pickup truck’s exhaust pipe and running the other end to the passenger-side window. He died of carbon monoxide poisoning at the age of 33

    Hiroshima

Sixty two years ago tomorrow, the crew of an American B-29 bomber  The Enola Gay dropped the first of two atomic bombs on Japan
Few who witnessed the attacks remain, yet the destruction is etched in human memory. More powerful nuclear weapons followed Fat Man and Little Boy, but none have been used in war. The 62th anniversary of the bombings prompts reflections on one of history's most dramatic moments.
As a result of the blast, heat and ensuing fires, the city of Hiroshima was leveled and some 90,000 people in it perished that day. The world’s second test of a nuclear weapon demonstrated conclusively the awesome power of nuclear weapons for killing and maiming. Schools were destroyed and their students and teachers slaughtered. Hospitals with their patients and medical staffs were obliterated. The bombing of Hiroshima was an act of massive destruction of a civilian population, the destruction of an entire city with a single bomb.

    Unreported world

These are a few topics  of the Unreported world series......Just read..

Killing of Kashmir"More than 60,000 people, mostly innocent civilians, have died in the 15-year conflict. Half a million Indian troops are stationed in Kashmir, fighting Pakistani-funded militants who slip across the border to attack the troops but also to terrorise the local population into giving them shelter and assistance. While both governments talk of peace, Unreported World reveals that, on the ground, very little has changed. For the local villagers life is a cycle of militant violence and government repression. "

NIGERIA: FIRE IN THE DELTA Its Home to one of the richest oil fields in the world, but its people are living in extreme poverty and a polluted environment, caught in the crossfire between armed gangs sabotaging the oil production and harsh reprisals from security forces.

WEST PAPUA: RAINFOREST WARRIORS Unreported World travelled to one of the remotest places on earth, where journalists are forbidden to work and usually arrested when they arrive, and where a bloody conflict between government forces and locals is rarely glimpsed by the outside world.

SOUTH AFRICA: THE NEW APARTHEID The series began in South Africa where a huge rise in illegal immigration from Zimbabwe and other African states is behind an increase in racism and xenophobic violence.

Guatamala City  Areas of Guatemala City have degenerated into violent lawlessness in a three-way battle between gangs, vigilante groups and the security forces, and where disappearances, torture and bloody death have become a daily occurrence

These  are just a few  notes  of Unreported world...

    A damper on the match

The Cricket match was going on ...delayed by some rain...it was night     ...whole Sri Lanka  was watching the game.
An attack by LTTE  ....Two fuel installations at Muthurajawela and Kolonnawa .... supplying fuel to the security forces, particularly the air force,
    were burning....

At least five people, including three soldiers, were injured and hospitalized in the incident, and the Sri Lanka air force launched retaliatory strikes against rebel targets in the northern Wanni region. The attacks occurred as many people were awake, watching Sri Lanka's cricket team play Australia in the World Cup final on television.

The incoming rebel aircraft were first reported by a detachment at Palavi, about 110 kilometers (68 miles) north of the main air base at Katunayake, the air force said. The report prompted a total blackout in Colombo -- the second in a week.

Anti-aircraft fire was directed at the sky in several places, including the southern town of Ratmalana, where a military air base is located, and at the Katunayakeanti air base, near the Colombo International Airport.

The incident was the third in a week.

Fears of an air attack triggered a blackout in Colombo on Thursday and forced its international airport to temporarily shut down. These attacks  willnever stop....

Is LTTE thinking that  the inhabitants will support their goal????

    This way???

5 ppl injured again.. We read this and go on with our lives....But those families...their lives changed  .......hmmmmmmmmmm..

    Landmines

    Landmines....Killers  even after war
Over the past decades there have been hundreds of thousands of people who have been injured by landmines. The majority of children injured die from the results of the blast - mainly because of their small bodies and closer proximity to the centre of the blast. Those people who survive the initial blast of a mine will most likely require amputations, long hospital stays and extensive rehabilitation.

Countries that have a significant landmine problem are usually also suffering many other major problems. They mostly have a poor economy; their social and economic infrastructure has been torn apart by the ongoing fighting; educational programmes have mostly ceased and professional people have long since left.

Military hardware is in the hands of armed gangs, poorly trained soldiers or even children. Among the weapons that remain when the war ends there may be thousands, if not millions, of anti-personnel mines. Health care is largely dependent on a variety of foreign aid agencies whose work is also hampered by the presence of mines. The local medical personnel is usually not well trained and the and supplies are lacking, limited or stolen and sold in the markets. When an area is too dangerous for the agencies to visit or work in people must then rely on their own resources to transport the injured to a nearby hospital, which in some cases may be days away. They are then expected to pay for their medicines and treatment, which most rural people cannot afford

In Cambodia alone there are more than 35,000 people who have been injured by landmines. They estimate that the same number of those who survive actually die in the fields from loss of blood.

If this boy had been injured by someone or by any other means there would be some sort of investigation. But because he was injured by a landmine there was no investigation and no-one will be brought to justice.
