    Childrens day

    [] India

Children's Day is to celebrate "childhood". On Children’s Day tribute is payed to all children in the world. Children are loved by one and all. They win over our hearts with their angelic eyes and innocent smiles. It makes one realise that maybe that’s the way God wanted us to be.

India's first prime minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, was born on November 14. After his death in 1963, his birthday has been celebrated as children's Day in India.Children's Day is not just a day to let the future generation have its say. It is a day to remember a leader who, in his quiet but determined way, laid the foundation to convert a nascent nation into a world power.

But why Children's Day? Apart from being known for his skills as a statesman, Nehru was also immensely fond of children. The more popular and famous of Nehru's pictures show him with children.

Some have a hot bath even twice a day.....

some are happy with  a sheet, to cover them for he cold.

Some have toys...even a kids laptop.

some are happy with a story telling friend.

A colleague of mine gave me a magazine from Terre des hommes this morning
A very interesting interview took my attention.

THE SILENT WAR IN SRI LANKA
The war in Sri Lanka is over after a 26 year fight. In Mai this year the last Tiger rebels were defeated by the government army.

Father Paul Satkunanayagam takes care of ex child soldiers and visited refugee camps.

Those camps are inaccessable for outsiders. Ppl were desperate but asked him to go and tell their story to the outside world.
Father Paul is a Sri Lankan from Batticaloa and well known by everybody living in the northeast of sri lanka
WHat he did during the war and still does for those kids ...well he has a place in my heart.Rode roos

    An autumn walk

    Foggy morning.
a small world. A view  from my office window.

I came home  at 12  after 4 hrs office work with a head ache ,painfull throat and running nose.
I was thinking  when i was driving  home....i eat and then horizontal. I dont do a thing today.
But my hubby  thought different...change clothes we go for a walk  it will do u good, he said
so  as a perfect wife ( hihi)  i went upstairs to do what he asked.
And indeed  i was reborn after the autumn walk..
Here some pics  of the forest. Autumn dress.

I call this my Forest..There is no path  or tree  i dont recognise.

    Father Damian

A small country with a Holy Father
    Damien

Damien was born as Jozef ("Jef") De Veuster as the seventh child in the family. Following in the footsteps of his brother Auguste (Father Pamphile), Damien became a Picpus Brother On March 19, 1864, Father Damien landed at Honolulu Harbor in downtown Honolulu as a missionary.
The Native Hawaiians became afflicted by diseases inadvertently introduced to their islands by foreign traders and sailors. Thousands died of influenza, syphilis and other ailments which had never before affected them. This included the plight of leprosy .Damien's arrival is seen by some as a turning point for the community. Under his leadership, basic laws were enforced, shacks became painted houses, working farms were organized and schools were erected.
As indicated in his diaries, in December 1884 Damien went about his evening ritual of soaking his feet in boiling water. He could not feel the heat because he had contracted leprosy. Despite this discovery, residents say that Damien worked vigorously to build as many homes as he could and planned for the continuation of the programs he created after he was gone. Father Damien died of leprosy at 8.00am on April 15, 1889, aged 49.In 1936, the Belgian government asked for his body to be returned to native soil. It was brought back aboard the Belgian sailing ship Mercator and now rests in Leuven, an historic university city close to the village where Damien was born. After his beatification, the remains of the right hand were returned to Hawaii.

He gave his life for the people with leprosy
and to morrow  october 11  th in the Vatican Pope Benedict  XVI will make him Holy..

    Onam

Happy Onam to my Indian  Friends

The following song is often sung over Onam: (Translation)
When Maveli, our King, ruled the land,

    All the people had equality.
    And people were joyful and merry;
They were all free from harm.
There was neither anxiety nor sickness,
Death of the children was never even heard of,
    There were no lies,
There was neither theft nor deceit,
And no one was false in speech either.
    Measures and weights were right;
No one cheated or wronged his neighbor.
When Maveli, our King, ruled the land,
All the people formed one casteless race

Onappottan, in traditional costume is a custom in northern parts of Kerala. Onappottan visists houses during the onam and gives blessings. Off late onappottan has become a rare sight, confined to villages.

    Sunday afternoon

As we had the intention  to go to Antwerp.
we had to go to my mom in law first  and thats why it became  a bit late to drive to Antwerp.
    Plan B
The Saeftinghe its  a protected area  of nature. U can make a tour  with  a guide. Its very dangerous  cos  when the  rising tide is there u can be isolated  in 5 minuts  and theres no way back.
Today they celebrated the yearly  festivities.
It was  wonderful to see  so much boates together

u notice  that they  are  laying  there in the  sand
They have to  wait till the rising tide to sail out.
we walked a bit further  and  there i saw  my fav.
Its  a special one dont u think

After the walk in the  warm sun  we  went back to have a drink.
a local band was playing there. Awesome  music  and as u can see.Small boys  and  a girl playing the  stars out of the sky
    Our future  musicians.  awesome

and  a fresh drink  to cool off with old friends.

    Our humble king

    Belgium has royalties...
we pay taxes for their SURVIVAL. Oeps........  i use black humour.
But its the truth and we cant deny.We pay for the royals.
    So hear the latest news
King Albert bought a new yacht  cost.4,6 million.

During his judgements on july 21Th he said that we need more ethics  and less materialism.
OHHHHHHHHHHHH..he probably  forgot, or maybe his yacht  was already ordered??
Now he reacts like this  ""My yacht is the only place on this earth where i have some privacy.
    He forgot his castel.

SO now we wait for the pics of the paparazzi.
seems  he invites the heads of states on his boat.  He cant do that on a rusty one, is it?

keep ur hands of our kids

Yesterday  evening  i saw  a documentary  abt  child  slaves  around Delhi
    Kids working .Cutting stones.
A woman acted  as if she  wanted to buy  stones. That way the owner of the stone cutting  factory trusted her  and showed her around..He  was not aware  that she  was having  a camera with her to put everything on video. Kids cutting stones.
So with  a  trick  she had  proof  of  child labour. A  German  company  was well known ordering  stones  from that company.
She confronted  the company in Germany with the video..First  they  said..hmmm this is a trick Yes????
The supplier confirms  there is no child labour  at all...But after a while  they said..But see...we have certificate..that proofs  No child labour
it seems that u can get a  certificate  that what u buy is not made  by kids hands. But the  lady  could  buy  such certificates for lil money. She showed  him same certificate  as he showed her.
Its not only in India  of course...Im aware of that..Im not  naiv.
and  now i get this under my eyes.
Action pour les enfants ( french)
    Action for  the kids.
    Cambodja.
a dream market  for paedophiles. Lil girls are sold for prositution nets. Parents give their kids for a handfull of dollars
    and streetkids...???
u just  pick them of  the streets.
And those guys?? when they get caught??? they bribe a police officer.
    Kids need to  be kids..
play...go to school.....have fun on the beach..wounds on the knees.

and most of all being  LOVED..
I dont want to insult or hurt any one..but this last weeks..so much things happened  around me..that i had to write this.
and  there are ppl on this earth  .who give themselves totally to give these kids  a bit better life.
    Thumbs up my friend..

There is a light  at the end...

Where  is the government to stop these sad situations?

Tx Pety for sending me this perfect poem
     no schools to play

    BAby jumbos ...

This news is the best i  got this week Thx  Champy for letting me know.
after a whole week reading  that 2 baby elephants  were taken away  from their mom,
and after long chats  with friends abt this horrible event.  This Good news

Copy from the  Island  News ( Hope im not doing something illegal here)
I  Hope  that the Island News Guys forgive me...But i need to share this good news with my space friends.

    President moved by elephants’ suffering
Baby jumbos to be reunited with mothers

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has decided that two baby elephants Diyawadana Nilame of Sri Dalada Maligawa forcibly brought to Kandy last Saturday from the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage be returned to their mothers, according to highly placed sources.

The President had taken serious note of media reports on severe suffering inflicted on the elephant calves and their mothers faced with a serious health risk as milk was clotting in their breasts and the presidential decision would be conveyed to the Sri Dalada Maligawa authorities shortly, sources said.

A group including police personnel led by Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dele separated the baby elephants from their mothers after a struggle and brought the calves to Kandy, though the law requires that only claves over five years of age be removed from their mothers. Both elephants are below five years. However, the Cabinet at the request of Minister of Sports and Recreation Gamini Lokuge had granted permission for two claves to be gifted to Sri Dalada Maligawa presumably oblivious to the legal requirement at issue and the fact that they had not yet been weaned from breastfeeding. The Wildlife Department under whose purview elephants come had not authorized the separation of the baby elephants on Saturday, sources said.

The Young Zoologists Association on Wednesday charged that the two baby elephants were being beaten with poles by their keepers as they had turned aggressive deprived of mother’s milk and care. Their mothers are pining in Pinnawala.

    Trip with cycle

As i have one week  free time, i try out my new  bicycle. Although  running  is still my favorite sport.
Yesterday  we ride  from 11 am  and  we want to stop in Terneuzen  a city  at the  borders of  The Schelde.
But everything did not go as we wanted.
the weather changed  ..sun  gone  ..dark clouds came.
the bars were closed. so  we ride  in a hurry home.  52  km.  Ohh  and my ass  hurts  so much.

Today  a small trip  to Sint Niklaas a city 15 km away from our house
Sint Niklaas has the largest market place of Europ.
U see me riding in the middle of that market place.
We used  a natural road .U dont need to ride in traffic . SO that give  a very safe feeling.

The town of Sint-Niklaas is a vibrant and modern city in the heart of Flanders (the north of Belgium). It has about 70.000 inhabitants and is a stone's throw away from major Belgian cities as Brussels, Antwerp and Ghent. Sint-Niklaas is also the capital of the Waas region, which is why it has such a strong influence on the entire region. Sint-Niklaas has lots of events and activities for just about any visitor.

There are three major cultural sites in Sint-Niklaas: the leading library, the theatre with a diverse and self-willed programme and the brand new cinema complex Siniscoop.

The rich variety of bars, dining rooms and restaurants in the town centre and the quarter near the railway station makes Sint-Niklaas the place to be in the region. Add a few interesting museum collections and you get the perfect mix for a day out.
